Detail photos of our exclusive new setting which levitates a gem above the surface of the jewelry with nothing else visible. We were further delighted to be able to pull this off in a 2g (6.5mm) set of plugs, which was quite a challenge. This set showcases a beautiful rare gray-blue Guatemalan jade by floating it over beautiful ebony plugs. Keep your eyes peeled for more uses of this new method in other materials and sizes.
A customer came to Onetribe with these beautiful (and very fragile) nautilus shell portions and requested to have them inlaid into plugs. We’re suckers for sacred geometry and the spirals in shells, so we designed a very simple prong setting to secure the inlays. This was the first time we have built an asymmetrical prong setting which holds the material at different heights on different sides (the material is potato-chip shaped) and it took quite a while of experimentation, but we think the efforts were well worth the result.
